We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician to join a small, hands-on team working across manufacturing, warehouse, and stores environments. You will be responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting mechanical components and sub-assemblies to deliver high-quality finished products.
As a Mechanical Assembly Technician this role requires the ability to work independently from technical drawings and build instructions with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble small, medium, and large mechanical components into finished products using build instructions and engineering drawings
- Test sub-assemblies and completed products in line with specified test procedures
- Inspect parts during and after assembly to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met
- Operate equipment safely and according to instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation and report any discrepancies
- Ensure production targets and timelines are met
- Keep the assembly area clean, safe, and compliant with company standards
- Support continuous improvement in build quality and processes
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Mechanical Assembly Technician (skilled level)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and works orders
- Strong fault-finding and basic repair skills
- Experience with assembly and testing of mechanical components
- Good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and consistency
- Basic electrical knowledge (desirable but not essential)
- Understanding of manufacturing works order and picking processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Training & Education
- GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths and English (minimum requirement)
- Apprenticeship, BTEC, or equivalent qualification preferred
